Contains a lot of witty and cynical insights about the events that led to the hostage crisis which lasted 400 days, some insights about the decision-making processes (which may explain why the crisis lasted as long as it did) and the quiet diplomacy behind the scenes, and a fascinating peek into the American film industry and its not so pretty face (see "The Last Action Hero", "Wag the Dog"), in the time when the most famous sign in the world was awaiting renovation...

A particularly interesting scene is the meeting where all the options for rescuing the hostages are discussed and the CIA agent debunks them all one by one...

The truth? If the Movie was not based on true events, I have no doubt that they would have finished it with the premiere of greatest Sci Fi Movie of all times, "Argo-Fuckyourself", and I'm not certain that the chase scene at the end (taking place simultaneously with the race for obtaining the confirmation for the Swissair flight) really happened like that, but whatever...

Ben Affleck was dropped from the list of nominations for the Academy Award for directing. I think he should have gotten the acting Award.
