Life of David Gale, the |
|
David Gale is an anti death penalty activist whose main argument is that a mistake could occur leading to the execution of an innocent man. He gradually loses his entire world, is accused and convicted of murder and sentenced to death, and protests his innocence in spite of all the evidence. He enlists the help of a young female reporter an a philosophical debate ensues on how fare would the reporter go to get to the truth and how far would David Gale go in order to prove his point that the execution of an innocent person is a very viable possibility. The problem of this Movie, as the problem of many American movies, is the ending, or rather, the repeated endings, which take up half a Movie. The writer of "The Sixth Sense" has already proven that there is another way. That you can end a Movie in a cohesive and well-constructed way and keep the viewers glued to their seats until the very last minute. So far, every attempt to imitate him has failed. The only one who came close was "The Others". |
