Hand that Rocks the Cradle, the

This Movie brings to mind "Fatal Attraction" and "Pacific Heights" at two points:

a. An emotionally disturbed woman takes over the life of a perfect family (who even showed kindness to a "mentally retarded", and a Negro at that, but what can you do if he is smarter than everyone, since he is the first to see through the villain's true nature?) and turns it into hell.

b. The wife is the one who eventually goes out to fight like a lioness for her home and her family.

Besides, they have a girl who can teach a few lessons to Home Alone's Macaulay Culkin, because she takes the initiative and does what any normal kid would do, or so they would have us believe.

In this Movie too the lunatic falls on all sorts of sharp objects (see "Ghost", "Dead Again", etc') only this time they are made of wood, so they break down under her body instead of impaling her.

The ending is better timed and designed than what we're used to in Movies of this kind.

In summary - Rebecca De Mornay deserves an Oscar, the others – not so much.

Incidentally, the name comes from the phrase" The Hand That Rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world", which is a statement about the importance and influence of early childhood education.
