After all the efforts that Brian Mills (Liam Neeson) has put into rescuing his family from various kidnappers in the two previous Movies, he returns to his routine life, which is mainly consisted of playing golf with his friends and having lunches with his daughter, who is afraid to tell him that she is probably pregnant. His ex-wife informs him that she wants to leave her new husband, but he objects and even demands that Mills stop seeing her. Mills agrees, but when he receives a mysterious text message, he arrives at his wife's apartment with warm, fresh bagels and finds her dead (by the way, who the hell picks up a bloody knife from a crime scene? Haven’t you ever watched CSI?) When the police arrive and catch him at the scene of the crime he attacks them and runs. Why? It is not clear, but he finds himself suspected of murder and is forced to start a cat-and-mouse game with the police officers, especially their commanding officer (Forest Whitaker), who is apparently willing to consider the possibility that Mills is innocent, but is unwilling to help him prove his innocence. At least he turns out to be an honest man ...
Has the peace agreement reached with the Albanian gang at the end of the second Movie been violated? Or is it related to the Russian Mafia hit in the opening scene of the film, which might have something to do with the new husband’s dubious business dealings? Perhaps Mills has a new unknown enemy? And does the ex-wife’s death guarantee that there will be no "Taken 4"? And most important, will Mills have a grandson?
All in all, the suspence is there, there are some unexpected twists, and this Movie might even be better than its predecessor.
By the way, as of now, we have been informed that the TV series based on the franchise has been terminated.
